In use in the United States:
- Arkansas (state statute adopted 2005; IRV ballots used since 2006 for overseas voters in all federal, state and local runoff elections)
- Aspen, CO (charter amendment adopted 2007, first used in 2009 for mayor and multi-seat variation for city council in elections held every two years)
- Burlington, VT (charter amendment adopted 2005, first used in 2006 for mayoral elections held every three years)
- Hendersonville, North Carolina (adopted 2007 and 2009 as pilot; multi-seat variation for city council)
- Louisiana (state statute adopted in 1990s; IRV ballots since then used for overseas and military voters in federal and state runoffs)
- Minneapolis, MN (charter amendment adopted 2006; first used 2009 for mayor, city council and other city offices held every four years
- San Francisco, CA (charter amendment adopted 2002; first used in 2004; mayor, Board of Supervisors and most city offices, with IRV elections every year)
- South Carolina (state statute adopted in 2006; since then used for overseas voters in federal and state runoffs)
- Takoma Park, MD (charter amendment adopted 2006, first used in 2007 for mayor and city council held every two years)
